House System

Mission Statement

A House System helps to enhance feelings of Belonging

For a student to fully engage in their education, they must also engage in their school. Developing a sense of pride and belonging can encourage all members of the school community to demonstrate respect for their school, their peers, and staff/colleagues and give back to the community. The House System will provide opportunities for students to develop and forge strong relationships with students outside of the classroom by having a common goal and shared values. An excellent House system will involve students being proactive and self-motivated to lead in the development of the House System. Students, in particular, Key stage 5 and Key Stage 4 students will use their personal interests and desire to build leadership and organisational skills to take ownership of and/or support Heads of House/Heads of Departments to run their house events.

The House System will provide students with the opportunity to participate in physical and intellectual challenges that will develop knowledge and skills while participating in fun activities for the benefit of their House community. Participation is paramount for the success of their House, and the desire is for every student to contribute towards their common goal. Through any challenge, students will also develop their resilience which is a life skill that is fundamental when facing any challenge.

As well as developing belonging, students will also work towards being a positive citizen in society by developing a strong community both Intra-House and Inter-House. This will be achieved by supporting, encouraging and elevating House members and looking after and respecting the physical school and our local and wider community. Each House has a House charity and money raised through challenges and the generosity of students and their families will go toward charities as advertised.

Head of House Jupiter - Mrs Habenicht

My name is Mrs Habenicht and I am thrilled to be Head of House Jupiter, while continuing my role as Deputy Head of Dance and Drama.

In my spare time I enjoy crafting with my daughter, running, and if I get time.. I love to draw!

It is an honour to lead and support massively successful house, known for its vibrant spirit and remarkable achievements. I am eager to build upon its legacy and guide our team to further victories. As we move forward together, I am introducing new values: “Unity in Spirit, Strength through Diversity.” These tenets will encourage us to embrace our collective strengths while celebrating the unique contributions of every member. I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels inspired and empowered.

Together, we will continue to achieve great things, fuelled by our shared passion and diverse talents. I look forward to the incredible journey ahead with all of you!

Head of House Mars - Mrs McBain

Hello Hello! I am Mrs McBain and I am so so excited to be the head of Mars house!

I have worked in the sixth form at MHCHS for the last three years and I consider myself very lucky to be part of such a friendly and driven school. Outside of my working life I’m a proud parent of two teenage boys, I’m a dog lover, with two pups myself (A Bichon Frise and a Miniature Dachsund!) and I love to spend time socialising, whether that’s over a great meal at a restaurant or outside enjoying nature.

As head of Mars House I am passionate about building a strong, connected community where every member feels supported and inspired. I care deeply about mental health and creating an environment where people can thrive not only in competition but in their personal growth as well. With that foundation my ambition is to lead Mars House with energy, determination and a shared drive to win together. I am hopeful that the Martians at MHCHS can come together to create a community so strong and supportive that we can be unstoppable!

Go Team Mars!

Head of House Neptune - Ms Farrell

My name is Ms. Farrell and I am a Sixth Form Academic Mentor as well as a member of the safeguarding team. I have worked at Mill Hill County for several years, supporting sixth formers in achieving their potential, and I am incredibly excited to now be more involved with students across the whole school.

In my free time, I love spending time doing fun activities with my daughter, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and enjoying long walks.

Since starting my role as Head of House Neptune, I have already seen the amazing qualities you all bring to this community. I am so proud to be part of a house where students consistently demonstrate resilience, kindness, teamwork, and dedication-whether through the energy and spirit of the House Games at the start of the year or the incredible creativity on display during World Book Day!

We have already made huge progress from last year, and I have no doubt that we can keep this momentum going. Let’s continue to give it our all and show MHCHS what Neptune is made of!

Head of House Saturn - Miss Singh

My name is Miss Singh and I started at Mill Hill County last year to teach Biology after living in Australia for 3 years.

My interests are, trying new foods, travelling around the world and volunteering with exotic animals. I have worked with lions and cheetahs in South Africa and pumas and jaguars in South America! I also love to skateboard, surf, and go to the gym.

My House ambitions are to ensure House Saturn look out for each other, push themselves out of their comfort zone to try new things and run rings around the other planets to win the House Cup!

If you ever need me, I will be in S04 or the science office.
