Subjects

At Key Stage 3 all students study:

*Students who show linguistic ability commence a second modern foreign language or Latin in Year 8.

** We adopt a double-staffed, cross-curricular approach to ICT at Key Stage 3, e.g. when an English lesson is used to teach ICT, the English teacher is joined by a specialist ICT teacher.

At Key stage 4 all students study:

Plus two subjects chosen from: Selection of GCSE option subjects takes place in Year 9 following a programme of information meetings, consultations and interviews to ensure the suitability and educational soundness of courses for individual students.

The Science course leads to double GCSE certification. For English, students have the opportunity to study both English Language and English Literature to GCSE level. Religious Education can lead to a full or a half GCSE.

N.B. The inclusion of subjects at various points in the curriculum in future years could change in the light of new legislation or initiatives.
