6th September 2008
The school's new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) was launched at the beginning of term under the name of 'MySchool'.
MySchool will be used in lessons and can also be accessed from any computer with access to the internet. Students will be able to continue their learning beyond the classroom, and to engage with a variety of different forums and communities that is otherwise difficult in such a large school.
The school has chosen a VLE that is being used by schools across London giving us the opportunity to join a wider community for sharing resources and ideas.
MySchool has a range of features which will increase and enhance the learning opportunities for all the students. For instance work can be set, handed in and marked online. Discussion forums can also be set up to bring students and teachers together in a much more accessible way.
In the first few weeks of the school term the use of MySchool will be restricted to students in certain subjects. However all teaching colleagues are exited by the opportunities that MySchool offers, and all subjects are being phased in over the next few months.
On the school website there is a link to get into MySchool, and most students will receive their password in the coming term. Eventually we aim to give parents their own passwords to give them online access to relevant documentation and information about their children. We will have information evenings for parents that will demonstrate the capability and potential of 'MySchool'.
