Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) -
Level 3
ASDAN
Description of the Specification
This skills based, bespoke program of study is aimed at developing individual student’s personal effectiveness. It teaches wider key skills that will be transferable both in the work place and at university.
Candidates must gain credits by completing challenges that provide evidence of the six essential skills:
- Working with others
- Improving own learning and performance
- Problem solving
- Planning and carrying out research
- Communicating through discussion
- Planning and giving oral presentations
All students will take level 2 ‘en-route’ to level 3. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE B grade. Level 3 is formally recognised by universities and carries 70 UCAS points, 10 more points than a grade A at AS level.
Type and Nature of the Work Involved
Challenges are individual, some are practical and others involve written work. All are dependent on committing to the process of planning, undertaking and reviewing. Students move from tutor guided to student lead learning as they progress from level 2 to 3. Ultimately the tutor becomes more of a facilitator hence a high level of motivation and maturity is required.
Method of Assessment
Evidence portfolios are continually assessed and internally moderated. In addition portfolios are sent for external moderation three times a year.
