16-19 Tuition Fund

The purpose of this statement is to set out how Mill Hill County High will utilise its 16 to 19 tuition fund allocation to support students who have been academically disadvantaged due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How the School will use the 16 to 19 one-off, time-limited grant

This funding will be used to provide bespoke support through small group tuition for students aged 16 to 19 who have not yet achieved grade 5 or above in GCSE English or maths. Although support is targeted based on prior attainment in English or maths, the funding will not be limited to these subjects, but will also support vocational learning where assessment may have been deferred because of lockdown. Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who require additional tuition to help them catch up with their studies will also be supported.

This provision will be used for Year 13s in the first instance and later in the year rolled out to support Year 12s where appropriate. Tuition groups will comprise of no more than five students and the tuition sessions will be scheduled in addition to the existing programmes of study.

Tuition and additional support may be provided using a blend of on site and remote delivery.

Examples of some of the Tuition Support on offer will include:

  • GCSE exam re-sit preparation
  • Vocational deferred assessment preparation
  • Subject specific knowledge and skills gap catch up sessions

Tuition Support offered will be based on an individual needs assessment, the identification of an individual starting point, clear learning goals, expectations and outcomes.

Our Commitment

The Mill Hill County Sixth Form is committed to ensuring the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 tuition fund by:
